Born in Tehran and raised in Cairo and Osaka, living between cultures has greatly influenced a Japanese writer Kanako Nishi. She is best-known for her warm and distinctive personality and her way of storytelling that esteems and blesses anybody no matter their background. She has received many prestigious literary awards in Japan, including the Sakunosuke Oda Prize in 2007 from Tsutenkaku (Osaka Tower), the first Hayao Kawai Prize in 2013 from Fukuwarai (Funny Face) and the Naoki prize in 2015 from her masterpiece, Saraba!
