The New Look of JFBKK Library
The Japan Foundation, Bangkok's Library had been temporary closed for refurbishment since November 10th last year, and it has opened its doors again to welcome all users since April 20th, 2009. The newly furbished library of the Japan Foundation, Bangkok presents a fascinating look with the touch of trendy style while still maintaining the cozy atmosphere.
In the first day of the reopening we received a compliment from our regular users saying that the new library is a lot more beautiful than the previous version.
The new Pop Culture corner is an outstanding new feature of the library with a wall screen of 1.30 x 2.19 meters which presents new DVD movies, animations and concerts; we hope that this facility will be enjoyed by students or the general public who are interested in contemporary culture of Japan.

Moreover, in this corner you could also easily search for and watch the newest trailers of Japanese movies and music videos which are currently popular in Japan from the two jukeboxes without having to insert coins.

We provide 54 seats for the library users; our multimedia service ranging from newspapers, magazines, ten thousands books in Japanese, Thai and English, variety genres of CD music, DVD movies which will introduce you to Japanese societies in different periods of time, along with animation movies to Japanese culture & language learning videos available for your pleasure and educational purpose.

We still have copy machine service along with the new window display which will show arts and cultural items or pictures concerning Japan. With the variety of multimedia service, the Japan Foundation, Bangkok's library can stand out as another knowledge and edutainment source for Thai people who are interested in Japanese culture to come and learn more about Japanese arts and culture, traditional or contemporary, with the assistance of our efficient librarians. The library is easily accessed via BTS (Asoke Station) and MRT (Sukhumvit Station); car parking at Sermmit Tower is free for the first 3 hours.

In the previous record, JFBKK library had approximately 200 visitors each day. Our visitors include office staffs in Sermmit Tower who usually spend lunch time reading books or watching videos, elementary or kindergarten students coming with their parents during holiday season, as well as high school and university students who study Japanese, Japanese teachers from many institutions who come to participate in the training course organized by Japanese Language Department of the Japan Foundation, Bangkok.
