The Japan Foundation, Bangkok, and KAD ARTS Co.,
LTD. are jointly organizing "THE 5TH ASIAN CARTOON
EXHIBITION" in June of 2002.
The Japan Foundation has been holding the Asian Cartoon
Exhibition every year for contributing to greater
understanding toward Asian societies, cultures and
people through the widely appreciated medium of cartoons.
The theme of this year is "Human Resources
in Asia". As the saying goes, "Education
is the future of any nation", education always
has been one of the highest priorities for the various
Asian nations. Given the intertwined diversity of
languages, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and other
features of Asia, its nations are implementing human
resource development measures with weight placed on
education in preparation of the 21st century.
This exhibition displays 90 new cartoons drawn
by 10 cartoonists representing 9 nations,
namely China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar,
The Philippines, Thailand and Japan, for your enjoyment.
We hope that these humorous and satirical works may
contribute to broadening understanding and deepening
interest in the societies and cultures of the respective
countries.
