On the occasion of the Japanese Film Festival - Samurai 2002 -, the Japan Foundation, Bangkok would like to take the pleasure to introduce its weekly film showing program for film lovers.

The Japan Foundation, Bangkok has been conducting Japanese film screenings on every Friday night for several years. We set one theme for each month and screen Japanese films with Thai subtitles free of charge at the main hall of Japan Cultural Center, Bangkok.

For the February program, we feature Kurosawa Akira's Samurai films for each Friday night. The schedule is as follows. All screenings are free of charge.

February 8, 2002 Seven Samurai 207 mins.   Directed by KUROSAWA Akira A village in the mountain is robbed every year of its wheat crop harvest by a group of bandits. Realizing that there is no way to prevent this other than by hiring samurai to fight for them, villagers are delegated to go into town to search for samurai. Then seven samurai are hired for the fight. Under the direction of hired samurai, the village defenses set up and the villagers undergo combat training. The group of young samurai are listening to Izaka's report on the matter when suddenly, an unkempt masterless samurai with piercing eyes and wrinkled, worn-out clothes stands before them.
